Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial Osteopathy is the pure lineage of Osteopathic philosophy passed down from Dr. Still, the founder of Osteopathy and fully conceptualised by his student, Dr. William G. Sutherland. Cranial Osteopathy is a very gentle, minimal approach that can have powerful results. It is often the treatment of choice for acute pain (back ache, joint sprains, car accidents), for babies (after a traumatic birth, for colic etc), for young children for pregnant women, the elderly and those who do not like the idea of joints being ‘clicked’ or ‘cracked’.
The patient can feel a sense of relaxation and it is not unusual for patients to sleep during the treatment. Osteopaths feel for a rhythmic pulsation or shape change in the body’s tissues that are under abnormal tension and use very gentle pressure to release these tensions.
Although the name Cranial Osteopathy implies a technique that relates to the skull, the approach is effective for the whole body.

Babies and Infants
Being born is the most traumatic event that we will probably experience. The effects on skull, neck and spine can be significant. Osteopathic care with its subtle approach and gentle nature can be of great value in giving baby the best possible start.
Children
Osteopathy is appropriate for all ages. Children and adolescents suffering from muscular and joint pains can often benefit from appropriate osteopathic treatment.

Elderly
Ageing is a natural physiological process. One part of the body that is greatly affected by this process is the musculo-skeletal system. As one ages our body’s elasticity will decrease, increasing the probabilities of injuries of many body structures.
It is common for people over 55 to suffer the effects of osteoarthritis, like pain, stiffness and restricted movement. Osteopathic treatment can be used to help relieve these distressing symptoms.
